Stuart Attwell Q and A
Stuart Attwell Q&A Evening
Last month, we welcomed Premier League Referee Stuart Attwell as a guest speaker in a joint event with Somerset FA.
Stuart Attwell became the youngest referee in Premier League history at 25 as he took charge of Blackburn Rovers’ 1-1 draw with Hull City in August 2008. This record has since been broken by Northumberland FA official Michael Oliver. He has since gone to referee over 150 topflight games.
On the 12 December [2022], over 70 match officials from both the Glos FA and Somerset FA attended the Gloucestershire County Cricket Ground, as Stuart Attwell delivered a presentation sharing his experience, knowledge and how our match officials can apply it to the grassroots game. It was followed by a Q&A with a lot of questions from the audience ranging helpful advice, dealing with different scenarios and best practices.
We would like to once again thank Stuart for the evening and engaging with our referees and offering advice that will help them with their refereeing journey.
Registered referees will have future opportunities to attend guest speaker evenings and CPD workshops to get involved in. Make sure to keep an eye on our website and social channels.
