Disability Training for Clubs to take place in February
Gloucestershire FA are pleased to announce an upcoming Journey to Inclusion event that will benefit any Clubs that wish to offer Disability Football.
Whether you have a well-established disability provision or you are looking to start from scratch, this event will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to feel confident working with Disabled footballers. Our aim is to create a culture across the game where Disabled footballers have access to all opportunities and feel like they truly belong, on and off the pitch.
We have teamed up with Herefordshire FA and Shropshire FA for this fantastic regional event, meaning that Clubs from across the three counties are welcome at Oaklands Park on February 27th.
When? Tuesday, 27th February 2024
Where? Gloucestershire FA HQ, Oaklands Park, Almondsbury BS32 4AG
What time? 6:30pm - 9:30pm
The content of the evening will be delivered by the experts from England Football and will help you to understand your Club’s current strengths as well as areas that you can target for improvements. We will help you to gain the confidence you need to offer Disability Football by covering topics such as appropriate language to use and how to make players feel welcome and included.
This is also a great opportunity to meet our staff and find out what support we can offer your Club within the Disability Pathway. In attendance from the GFA will be Hattie Tidwell, Football Development Officer (Disability) and Kieran Franks (Disability Football Ambassador).
“Clubs often don't know where to start within the Disability pathway,” said Hattie. “This event will show them that the perceived barriers are easily overcome with the knowledge and skills volunteers already possess. We hope that this will empower those in our County to keep growing the Disability game."
