Introducing our new Designated Safeguarding Officer, Gemma Szakacs

The Gloucestershire FA is pleased to welcome our new Designated Safeguarding Officer, Gemma SzakacsBelow Gemma shares her experience of safeguarding, football and what she is looking forward to in her role.

"I was absolutely delighted to take on the role of Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Gloucestershire FA. This opportunity is very exciting after growing up in a family who love football. From childhood I’ve been on the sidelines watching my Dad who was a goal keeper, up to now having my own family who love the game too.

I’m a registered Social Worker who has worked for local authorities for the last five years in Adult Community teams. Before coming to the Gloucestershire FA, I worked in an Adults with Learning Disabilities team. I have a safeguarding background working with Adults at risk and I’ve previously volunteered supporting children and young people with disabilities. I’m passionate about safeguarding, equality and inclusion, I look forward to upholding the excellent safeguarding standards within the Gloucestershire FA."
