Referee Promotion Application Window Now Open for 2021/22
WE CAN NOW ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM REFEREES CURRENTLY AT LEVEL 7, 6 AND 5 FOR PROMOTION TO THE LEVEL ABOVE.
If you wish to be considered for promotion the following criteria apply:
- Be aged 16 or over (must be a current Level 7 referee as a minimum)
- Have already officiated in at least 20 games of 11 v 11 football of which 15 matches must be in open-aged male or female football
- Apply before 30 July 2021

Level 7-6 & 6-5
- Must referee at least 20 games of open age (adult) 11 v 11 football (male or female)
- Be observed on at least 3 of those games by a Glos FA Observer to help you achieve the standard required
- Must attend a local promotion seminar and pass an exam on the Laws of the Game
- Must act as an assistant referee on at least 5 Supply League games (Toolstation Western League or Hellenic League Division 1) or U18 Academy games
- Must referee at least 20 games of open age (adult) 11 v 11 football (male or female)
- Act as assistant referee on at least 10 games on a Supply League or U18 Academy
- Must attend an FA seminar and pass an exam on the Laws of the Game
- Should be observed 5 times as a referee to help you achieve the standard required
- Must pass a fitness test running at least 2600 metres in 12 minutes and take 2x 50 metre sprints in 7.5 seconds.
- Be available on both Saturday and midweek to officiate in a higher level of football
Supporting referees through the promotion process involves a lot time and commitment by volunteers and the refundable fee is a way of demonstrating your commitment to progressing to a higher level.
