Grassroots Football Survey 2019-20

The Grassroots Football Survey is back and we need YOUR responses to improve football in Gloucestershire!

The Grassroots Survey is back and we need you to help us improve football in Gloucestershire!

The Football Association [The FA] has today announced its annual survey for participants in Gloucestershire to provide feedback on the grassroots football provision in the local area.

Players, coaches, parents, supporters, volunteers, referees, club and league officials across Gloucestershire now have the opportunity to highlight areas where they require support, suggest areas for improvement and outline the impact of particular campaigns or schemes.

Since the online survey was originally launched, the responses of more than 100,000 grassroots participants have helped to inform the decision making and allocation of resources by The FA and respective County FA's. Results from the 2018/19 edition identified five key areas – both on and off the pitch – where a renewed focus is required:

  • Identify the resources and tools that clubs need the most support with
  • Foster the right experience for participants at this level of the game
  • Encourage young people to stay active in different roles across the game
  • Ensure the RESPECT campaign has a positive impact on all participants
  • Adapt to the changing nature of modern grassroots football

Gloucestershire FA Chief Executive, David Neale said, “the annual survey gives us a real insight into the game locally and I encourage everyone involved in football to complete it. In 2018/19 you said we should improve the experience for participants in youth football. We directed funding to youth Leagues to support the roll-out of ‘Purple Shirts’ for U18 Referees.
It’s a great initiative as spectators attending matches now recognise the match official as a young person and the number of reports of young referees being verbally abused has dropped significantly. This along with other support and training for match officials resulted in Gloucestershire FA achieving one of the highest referee retention rates across all County FAs last season.”

The deadline for responses is Friday November 8th 2019.
