Stepping over the Sidelines

Step over the sidelines this summer!

This June, the GFA will be welcoming in women and girls to help them get started as volunteers.

Are there women or girls at your club who want to lend a hand but don't know where to start? This June, the GFA will be delivering a workshop to help give them the skills and confidence they need to start volunteering in grassroots football.

Stepping over the Sidelines is an introductory session for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds who would like to get into volunteering or coaching football.

The session aims to break down some of the barriers stopping women from getting involved in the game. We will look at skills and attributes that individuals already hold which can be transferrable to football. It is also hoped that the workshop will inspire attendees by highlighting other positive female role models who are influencing change within the game.

The workshop also gives a flavour of the next steps for anyone who might like to consider getting involved. That could include:

- The EE Playmaker course
- The Introduction to Coaching Football course
- Being more involved at your local club, recreational session or Weetabix Wildcats venue, perhaps as a coach, assistant, helper, or volunteer.
