Vacancy - Designated Safeguarding Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Gloucestershire Football Association. The GFA is looking for a new Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) to manage the Association’s vital safeguarding work.

The closing date for this role is midday on Wednesday, 8th May. Interviews will take place at Oaklands Park (BS32 4AG) on Wednesday, 15th May.

Working Location: Oaklands Park, Almondsbury, Bristol BS32 4AG and home based.
Salary: Circa £30,000 pa, subject to experience
Hours per week: 37.5

What we are looking for

  • We are looking for a person with significant safeguarding experience and a passion for grassroots football to join our team. They will manage the Association’s safeguarding work in accordance with FA safeguarding policy, procedures, regulations, and standards.
  • This role would suit someone with relevant experience in child protection, safeguarding, or social work. They may have a qualification or experience from a wider safeguarding role or aligned profession. E.g., a role with safeguarding responsibilities such as a teacher, the police, the probation service, social services or as a council officer.
  • The successful candidate will play a significant role in maintaining The FA Safeguarding 365 Standard for County FAs, driving safer practices, and supporting League and Club Welfare Officers in grassroots football.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate a child-centred approach with the ability to maintain this perspective and apply common sense. They will have outstanding team working skills and be clear about what constitutes low level concerns, abuse and how to manage and escalate cases effectively.
