Introducing our new Designated Safeguarding Officer, Chantelle Thompson

The Gloucestershire FA is pleased to welcome our new Designated Safeguarding Officer, Chantelle Thompson. Below Chantelle shares her experience of safeguarding, football and what she is looking forward to in her role.

"When I received the phone call to inform me that I had been offered the job as Designated Safeguarding Officer for Gloucestershire FA, I was literally over the moon.

I have been working in Safeguarding now for 14 years as a Designated Safeguarding Officer and Head of Year in two secondary schools in Weston Super Mare. I am really excited to be given this opportunity to be able to carry my experience over to my new role.

I have three sons – 15, 9 and 3 and a football mad husband meaning that I have spent the majority of my weekends for many years either at the side of a football pitch watching and supporting or providing transport.

I am really looking forward to commencing my new role and continuing to ensure that excellent safeguarding practice is embedded across football in Gloucestershire."
