Be careful where you referee...

Registered Referees may, from time to time, be approached to officiate in local 11-a-side or small-sided leagues / tournaments that have not been sanctioned and we feel it is important that referees understand the implications of officiating in such matches.

Below are two implications for referees to consider when officiating in competitions that aren’t sanctioned by the Gloucestershire FA.

1. Officiating in unaffiliated football breaches the Regulations for the Registration and Control of Referees

2. County Association Legal Liability Insurance is only valid in affiliated football

There are a number of tournaments, competitions, leagues and teams that are unaffiliated in all formats of the game, including 11-a-side. Where you have any doubts, we recommend that you check with your competition / tournament organiser to ensure that it is appropriately affiliated and sanctioned by asking for the affiliation number. If you still have any concerns in this respect, please contact the Gloucestershire FA by phoning 01454 615888.
