National Safeguarding Adults Week - 16-22 November 2020

National Safeguarding Adults Week

We are proud to be supporting National Safeguarding Adults Week

Gloucestershire FA is proud to be supporting Safeguarding Adults Week 2020.

This year, Safeguarding Adults Week will take place from 16 - 22 November. Each day of the week, will see a focus on a different safeguarding theme. These themes are broad, and each one covers many different areas of focus.

  • Monday – Safeguarding and Wellbeing
  • Tuesday – Adult Grooming
  • Wednesday – Understanding Legislation
  • Thursday – Creating Safer Places
  • Friday – Organisational Abuse
  • Saturday – Sport and Activity
  • Sunday – Safeguarding in your Community

It is everyone's responsibility to help & understand the importance of Safeguarding, whether it be children, young persons or adults. By knowing how to spot the signs of abuse, the process and procedures in place to deal with abuse, we can all play our part in stopping abuse and safeguarding all.

Gloucestershire FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, Hugh Feltham shared his thoughts on Safeguarding Adults Week 2020.

“It is vital to remember that safeguarding is as relevant when we talk about adults as it is to children and young people, especially in these difficult times we’re currently experiencing.

The Gloucestershire Football Association are pleased to work in partnership with the Ann Craft Trust in promoting and supporting the conversation around safeguarding and would encourage all participants to engage in this worthwhile initiative.”

Football Development Officer, Jason Lee added the following:"Over the last 12 months, Gloucestershire FA have been proactive in supporting disability clubs to promote The FA’s safeguarding adults policies and procedures.

Safeguarding Adults Week 2020 is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the resources available to clubs and continue the ongoing conversation of safeguarding adults in sport."

After a successful week of awareness in 2019, the Ann Craft Trust reached six million people on Twitter alone. Take a look at Ann Craft Trust website to see how you can get involved with Safeguarding Adults Week, download useful resources and find further information.
