GFA Referee Development Event –Gloucestershire FA, Oaklands Park

Following the success of Simon Hooper attending the pre-season event at Hartpury the previous week, Gloucestershire FA were delighted to welcome former GFA Referee and current Football League referee Kevin Johnson to their second pre-season event at Oaklands Park earlier this month.

The event was once again aimed at updating referees in preparation for the new season and Kevin gave a very informative and honest talk on his referee journey from being a youth referee in Bristol to being one of the most senior referees in the region. All of the referees and referee developers who attended will have been enthused by Kevin’s candid honesty and passion for refereeing.

Roger Vaughan (GFA Referee Development Officer) again updated those present on the law changes for the coming season and some of the other developments including the development of the Sin Bin pilot in different leagues in the County.

Sue Henson-Green (GFA Board Member) thanked Kevin for his support and presented a small gift before wishing him well as he continues to referee at a busy time on the Football League and looked forward to welcoming back hopefully later in the season.
