Rep Team: Wiltshire 5 - 4 Gloucestershire

For the Gloucestershire FA under 16s Rep Team, it was a trip to Wiltshire for the second game of the season.

For the Glos County under 16s, it was a trip to Wiltshire for the second game of the season. Hosted by Highworth Town FC, it was the home side that went with the slope and wind in the first half.

They used it well and took advantage by scoring 5 goals in the first half and dominating the game all over the park.

After a good discussion at halftime, we decided to change the shape and challenge the boys which clearly paid off. Within a few minutes we got the goal with a high press and this continued throughout the second half. Solid at the back, and dominated possession in the midfield which gave us a base to attack in numbers. 4 goals were scored from open play by Ryan Njonjo, Mikey Barron,  Levi Matthews and Fabio Calderone. A little unlucky with a couple of other chances, Tom Connor from distance, Ben Hardy and Elliot Martin went close and some great deliveries from Jai Underwood with set plays.

In the closing minutes Mikey was flattened in the area but unlike the first half penalty for Wiltshire, the officials didn’t give this one to even the score.

A great attitude from the boys and they couldn’t of responded any better, they were a credit to the county.
