17/18 Walking Football League

Gloucestershire FA’s Walking Football League is returning for the 17/18 season in a new format. Entries are being accepted for those over 50 that want to continue playing the beautiful game.

This season the competition will be fought on two fronts. We will have an over 50s division and an over 60s division to cater the ever growing league. Those over 60 will be able to compete in both divisions if desired.

Kicking off on Wednesday 4th October, the league takes the format of 6-weekly fixtures spread across the county to reduce travel distances for the teams involved. Each fixture will provide participating teams with three-to-four games, fully scheduled, managed and refereed by Gloucestershire FA officials. Matches are 6-a-side and played on both indoor and outdoor 3G and equivalent surfaces (no grass or sports halls). Key differences between the two divisions are stated below:

Over 50s division
- Games will be played on evenings and weekends
- Games may be slightly faster paced and physical

Over 60s division
- Games will mainly be played on weekdays in the daytime
- There will be lower impact tackling and less physicality involved

Cost per team is £35* per fixture and includes facility hire, management, scheduling and referees.

Applications for the league are being accepted for teams with a recommended squad size of 6-16 players. For any players without a team who would like to get involved, we will also develop a ‘player pool’ and help to find teams for unassigned players! To get involved, please submit the application forms below to Gloucestershire FA no later than 8th September 2017.
