The Gloucestershire FA Benevolent Fund (the Fund) is a registered charity that provides valuable support to individuals who have suffered a loss of income following an injury incurred whilst involved in an affiliated football match. Over the 12 months to November 2015, the Fund paid out over £10,000 to injured players, coaches and referees who had contributed to the Fund either directly or via their club’s annual donation.
Each year, we ask affiliated leagues, clubs and referees to make a voluntary contribution to the Fund so that it can continue to provide this worthwhile benefit. We would welcome your donation to the Fund for the period to 31 December 2016 and suggest a small donation along these lines.
- £10 per open age (adult) team
- £10 per Youth Club
- £ 5 per Referee.
To donate, please telephone the GFA office on 01454 615888 to donate by credit / debit card or to request an invoice. Alternatively, simply send a cheque to the GFA office made payable to “Gloucestershire FA Benevolent Fund,” but please remember to enclose a note giving your name and if appropriate, your club’s name as well.
It is important that the Fund is not be seen as an alternative to the Personal Accident Insurance policies (PAI) purchased by clubs and individuals, but rather as a valuable top-up, particularly if the PAI cover chosen by the Club only provides a minimal amount of weekly temporary disablement benefit. For younger participants, the Fund can provide some useful assistance for parents / carers who incur a financial loss following an injury to their child.
We see many claims each year from individuals who have lost nearly all their income for several weeks due to injury. The Fund cannot replace it all, but it can make a difference and we would welcome your donation.
