Meet The Team!
Board of Directors
Joined the Gloucestershire FA Council in 1983 as a representative of the Cheltenham Sunday League of which he was a Committee member for over 30 years. Roger became a Director of the County FA in 1999 and was elected County Chairman in 2002. He is also an FA Vice President and currently Chairman of the FA Judicial Panel.
Joined the Gloucestershire FA Council in 1985 and became Deputy Chairman in 2002. Mr Schafer is currently Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee and is the Association’s representative on the FA Council.
Joined the Association as CEO in 2006 and provides leadership and direction to the Association’s 15 strong team of staff.
Following a long career with Nat West Bank, Tony joined the Board in 2005 and provides financial oversight of the Association’s accounts and investments
Derek was elected to the Board in 2010 and leads on Inclusion and Equality. He is a member of the Inclusion Advisory Group and the County Cups and Referees Committees. Derek is also General Secretary of the Bristol and Suburban League.’
Sue was elected to the Board in 2013 and is the Safeguarding Champion. She is the chair of the County Match Committee alongside being the president of the Glos County Women's League that has been recognised for its success.
Nigel was elected to the Board in 2016 and advises the Board on business and youth football matters.
Football Development Manager
Matt is responsible for leading the Football Development Team to develop and support the delivery of the FA National Game Strategy in the County. Matt also leads on Facility development across Gloucestershire working closely with the Football Foundation, Local Authorities, clubs and other organisations to improve football facilities
Football Services Manager
Chris has been in post since January 2008. his responsibilities include the governance of Clubs and Leagues, facilitating the FA disciplinary process, managing the County Cups and supporting the use of FA Whole Game by staff and football volunteers.
Judith joined the Gloucestershire FA in August 2015 having spent over 30 years in both Financial & Management Accounting. She manages all aspects within the financial side of the business.
Senior Football Development Officer
Scott's main responsibilities include leading on the delivery of the participation strategy, which includes working with Clubs and Leagues to ensure we are on track to grow participation within the county.
Football Development Officer (Disability)
Jason is responsible for the development of disability football through both affiliated and recreational provision. This will include working with both traditional and non-traditional partners to retain and grow football opportunities.
Football Development Officer (Women's & Girls')
Alexis is responsible for the development of Women’s and Girl's football throughout Gloucestershire. Working with Leagues, Clubs and Teams to create sustainable playing opportunities as well as developing relationships with our key partners to help grow further opportunities for females. Also Alexis oversees and co-ordinates our Wildcats Programme for girls aged 5-11 and the England Talent Pathway run by The GFA for female players.
Football Development Officer
Jack has spent over 2 years at The GFA and in that time has overseen the growth of the recreational programme. This includes walking football, small-sided leagues, Just Play sessions and Flexible 11-a-side Leagues.
Football Education Officer
Richard is responsible for providing a sustainable Coach Education Programme across the County to account for the needs of our coaches and volunteers, this includes organising courses such as Level 1,2, UEFA B and many more.
Designated Safeguarding Officer (Mon, Tue & Wed)
Hugh is the GFA Designated Safeguarding Officer- Contact for all youth League and Club Welfare Officers.
Safeguarding Administrator (Part-Time)
Keith Ensures that risk assessments are done and properly signed off by our DSO. He is also responsible for filing and storing all documents relating to Safeguarding, Validating CRC checks and Supports the DSO with day to day Safeguarding issues.
Referee Development Officer
Roger is responsible for the recruitment, retention and development of referees within the County by arranging courses and other training events to ensure our referees are the best they can be. He also supports the Inclusion Advisory Group ensuring that football in the County is representative of the communities in which it is played.
Football Services Administrator
Celia has been working at the GFA for over 17 years and works on the governance side dealing primarily with payments, affiliation, hearings and disciplinary cases.
Football Services Administrator (Thu & Fri)
Football Services Administrator: Main responsibilities are Representative teams, Debt Recovery, Sanctioning of summer tournaments, ticket applications and administration for Gloucester Schools FA
Football Services Officer
Sam's main responsibility is managing the facilities we have at Oaklands Park, as well as the meeting rooms, training rooms and 3G pitch. He also Supports the discipline team as well as the Referee Development Officer.
Marketing & Communications
Nathan Marland Marketing and Communications Officer
Nathan joined the Association in June 2018 as the Marketing and Communications Officer on a 12 month placement from The University of Bath. In this role his main responsibilities are to develop and implement the Association's Marketing and Communication strategy, manage social media channels and oversee all content on the Gloucestershire FA website.
Press and PR Consultant
Simon uncovers news and current affairs that are football related throughout the entire Gloucestershire county. The work he creates is then published on the GFA website, and circulated to other local media outlets.
