About the Skills Programme
• Launched in July 2007 The FA Skills Programme is a 3 year nationwide programme co-coordinated by The FA and funded by Tesco and the National Sports Foundation.
• It aims to give top quality skills coaching to one million 5-11 year olds by July 2010.
• The programme adopts a revolutionary approach to youth coaching that is child-centred; focusing on both football skills and children’s learning needs.
• 66 full time FA professional coaches have been recruited for the scheme. These coaches have all gone through a special FA devised Level 3 coaching course at Keele University. They are the best trained coaches for children in this age group anywhere in this country.
