Referee Personal Injury Insurance
We have included referee personal injury insurance in the registration process at a cost of £6. The Key Facts can be found under related documents on the right hand side of this page. You should read this to decide if you need it. If you wish to opt-out of this insurance during the registration process, simply put zero against the quantity in the fees payable section on your registration form. Members of the Referees’ Association should note that insurance is also included within their RA membership fee.
Public Liability Insurance
As a referee you are covered by Public Liability Insurance placed by Gloucestershire FA.
It is, however, important that you are aware that this Public Liability Insurance is only valid in football that is appropriately sanctioned and affiliated with Gloucestershire FA or The Football Association. If you referee in any form of football that is not affiliated to either the County FA or The FA and an incident arises, unfortunately you will not be covered by our Public Liability Insurance and Gloucestershire FA will not be able to support you through disciplinary action against players and clubs.
There are a number of tournaments, competitions, leagues and teams that are unaffiliated in all formats of the game, including 11-a-side. Where you have any doubts, we recommend that you check with your competition / tournament organiser to ensure that it is appropriately affiliated and sanctioned by asking for the affiliation number.
