Who is the course intended for?
The FA Youth award module 1 is a 32 hour non assessed course, aimed at coaches, at all levels, who wish to extend their knowledge of coaching the 5-11 year old players. There are generic strands relating to teaching and learning, motivation and self-esteem that are suitable for most coaches.
The FA Youth Award Module 1 is aimed at holders of the 1st 4sport level 1 in coaching football or above, or qualified teachers who have attended the “age appropriate coaching” – introductory module” and who wish to extend their knowledge and experience in coaching 5-11 year old children. The minimum candidate age is 16 years
What is involved on the course?
The course will provide practical sessions and advice for when coaching this age group, and will increase the candidate’s knowledge of how to develop their coaching for 5-11 year olds. The course will cover technical development and in the physical corner it will offer fundamental ideas for the coach to use as well as suggested activities for the development of football specific movement. The important social and psychological development of the young player is also examined.
The 4 day course includes:
- How players learn
- Managing mistakes
- Self-esteem
- Motivation
- A pre-course read and self test question task for the physical aspect of the course
- Practical activities/games
- Managing difference pre-course read and a chance to try the games out under the watchful eye of your tutor
