Focussing on the progression from mini soccer to 11 a- side we are holding free festival days on Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June at Hartpury College and Coombe Dingle Sports Complex respectively.
Both events will work with the coming season’s U11 boys and U13/U14 girls as they progress to this new format in September.
Each day will be split into four practical workshops allowing players and their coaches unique access to our team of FA Regional Coaches, FA Skills Coaches and GFA Football Development Officers as they work on improving their technical skills, gaining an increased understanding of the 11 a-side game and developing essential team building strategies.
Workshop One: Tactics & Formations
A fully interactive classroom session where players will take part in a range of games and challenges becoming mini-managers to develop their understanding of the different player roles and responsibilities at 11 a-side.
Workshop Two: Skill Skool
Led by the FA’s TESCO Skills Coaches, players will get the chance to develop their techniques and show off some skillz in a series of challenges – all aboard the showboat!
Workshop Three: Team Coaching
It’s Game On with the FA’s Regional Coach Development Manager and GFA Community Coaches. Here players will get the chance to be coached through principles of play in a series of 11 a-side matches.
Workshop Four: Developing Team Work
The increased player involvement in moving to 11 a-side means that teamwork has never been more important. In this session players will be taken out of their comfort zones and challenged to think on their feet as they compete against two other teams in a selection of tasks.
As well as the workshops being of benefit to the players, club coaches will be able to observe sessions with coach support packs and GFA Coaches Association information allowing them to progress the content back at their clubs.
