Accessibility Statement

Gloucestershire FA is fully committed to working towards its web site being accessible as possible and inclusive for all its users regardless of their physical or mental capability.

We are working towards complying with Priority 2 of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines include:

  • Allowing users to control text size.
  • Using an easy to read font type.
  • Ensuring suitable foreground and background colour contrast.
  • Images that convey important information have alternative text and where an image is used for a decorative purpose the alternative text will be blank.
  • Providing simple and consistent site navigation.
  • Assigning access keys for navigational elements.
  • Ensuring the target of each link is clearly defined.
  • Providing a site map for information about the layout of the web site and for quick navigation.
  • Providing navigational shortcuts for users of text only browsers and page readers.
  • Using appropriate structural mark-up to maximise browser support.
  • Ensuring all content and funtionality is available to users without content style sheet (CSS), image and script support.

Control Text Size

  • In Internet Explorer, go to the View menu and select Text Size.
  • In Mozilla Firefox, go to the View menu and select Text Size.
  • In Opera, go to the File menu, select Preferences then Fonts and then change Minimum font size (pixels).
  • In Safari, go to the View menu and select Make Text Bigger or press the Apple Key and then the plus key.

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key (for Firefox 2 press ALT + an access key + enter); on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. All pages on this site define the following access keys:

  • Access key 0 - Accessibility statement.
  • Access key 3 - Site map.
  • Access key 8 - Terms of Use.
  • Access key C - Skip to main content.
  • Access key R - Read Aloud content.
  • Access key S - Submit form.

At the top of every page are hidden links that are spoken by screen-reading software and will appear when 'tabbed to' using a keyboard. They are the first links and, when selected, will make reading skip past the rest of the menu items and commence at the beginning of the main page content. These links are:

  1. Skip to main content [Access key = C]
  2. Skip to site map [Access key = 3]
  3. Skip to accessibility statement [Access key = 0]

Read Aloud

We provide a facility to have the main content of a page read aloud (skipping navigation) for the benefit of people who would like to listen as well as read. It is available in the same position on every page and can be utilised by clicking on its link.
